America
I remember the cool summer nights
Lit up by fireflies
I remember all my fairy lights
And the starry winter skies
I remember the salamanders and the snake
On the way to school
I remember the golf courses' frozen lake
And our blue swimming pool
I remember all the people there
Their funny accents too
I remember the massive room we used to share
And Rufus who loved to chew
I remember the big tree in the front yard
And watching the squirels play
I remember the table made for cards
And the weird things we used to say
I remember thanksgiving and halloween
And all the yummy food
I remember all the security guards were mean
And the very happy mood
I remember the smell of the humid air
After a night of rain
I remember the sight of the blue arm chair
And how the bread and coffee drove mum insane
I remember how much I miss it
As I remember things like these
And then I remember I'm here
And that puts my mind at ease.
